Barry Griffiths is a British Flautist and Instagram artist who has won scholarships to study at both Chetham's School of Music, and the Royal Northern College of Music. During his time there he became the Principal Flautist of the National Youth Orchestra of Wales, and the Royal Northern College Symphony Orchestra. He was also invited to play with the Hallé Orchestra, after winning the Hallé Youth Education Access Scheme. He then went on to win the 2007 Trevor Wye woodwind prize, and was also invited to perform in the finals of the RNCM Gold Medal Showcase Competition.
He has studied previously with both former and current principal flautists of various major British orchestras including the BBC Philharmonic, Royal Scottish National, BBC Symphony and London Symphony Orchestras under Rachel Holt, Alan Lockwood, Patricia Morris, Peter Lloyd and Michael Cox, and has taken part in Masterclasses with renowned international artists such as William Bennett, Wissam Boustany, and Göran Marcusson.
As an orchestral player he has played under many critically acclaimed conductors including Gianandrea Noseda, Vassily Sinaisky, Sir Mark Elder, Owain Arwhel Hughes, Yan Pascal Tortelier, Franz Anton Krager, En Shao, Benjamin Zander, and Jac van Steen.
Having worked extensively with music technology, Barry specialises in recording, performing and creating unique arrangements in the flute family repertoire for his growing community of social media viewers to enjoy on a daily basis.
