Biography

Regarded as one of the Spanish flutists with most international projection of her generation, Elisabet Franch has outstanding talent and subtle musical interpretation.

Since 2008 she was flutist of the Academy Orchestra of Gran Teatre del Liceu (Barcelona) and in 2010 became flutist of the Orchestra dell’Accademia del Teatro Alla Scala (Milano), working with conductors Gustavo Dudamel, Fabio Luisi, David Coleman, Gianandrea Noseda, performing at Teatro Alla Scala, Teatro Luciano Pavarotti, Bolshoi Theatre, Philharmonie of St. Petersburg and The Royal Opera House of Oman.

She has been recognized in several international competitions, including 1st prize and Judges' Distinction Award at the American Protégé International Competition 2016, which lead her to debut at Carnegie Hall of New York, 1st prize by unanimous decision of the Jury at International Flute Competition Domenico Cimarosa (Aversa, Italy), 2nd Prize Anton Rubinstein International Flute Competition (Berlin, 2019) Absolute Winner Wind Category Vienna New Year’s Concert International Music Competition 2018, Golden Classical Music Awards 2018 New York, 1st prize IMKA International Music Competition (Sarajevo), Concours International du Jeune Flûtiste (Paris, France), Sony Classical Talent Scout (Italy).

On 2013 wins the Rising Star Award given by Sir James Galway, with whom she studies since 2011 at the Galway Flute Festival and other masterclasses and is awarded with a 16k and platinum Nagahara headjoint. On the same year she is distinguished with the Citizen’s Prize of her city, Sant Cugat, “for carrying the name of the city over the world, related to talent and excellence” .

Her first discographic work, Gypsy Airs (Solfa Recordings, 2015) leads her to a successful debut: shortly after its release, the album wins two Gold Medals (Album and Emerging Artist) at the Global Music Awards (California,USA) and Best Classical Album at The Akademia Music Awards (Los Angeles,USA). Reviews from Pizzicatto Magazine (Luxembourg), The Flute View (USA), Revista Musical Catalana, Ritmo and Platea Magazine (Spain) highlights the musician’s maturity, elegance, sound and virtuosity and describe her as a promising talent. Later on 2018 the Global Music Awards appoints her Celebrated Judge after seeing her success years after winning the competition.

Besides her solo career, Elisabet has played with Gran Teatre del Liceu Symphony Orchestra, Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, GIOrquestra, Haifa Symphony Orchestra of Israel and Suzhou Symphony Orchestra. She has performed with renamed musicians as Andrea Bocelli, José Carreras, Edita Gruberova, Joyce di Donato, Daniel Müller-Schott, Milos Karadaglic and Nemanja Radulovic amogst others.

On May 2018 she is presented for the first time in concert next to Sir James and Lady Galway as one of their most outstanding students, performing at Basilica Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milano, Italy, and becomes Principal Flute of Tianjin Symphony Orchestra, under the musical direction of Music Director Muhai Tang.
