Biography

Flautist Nicole Rabata is widely recognized for her captivating and engaging performances as a
soloist and chamber musician on both modern Boehm and historical flutes.

Mrs. Rabata has appeared with critical acclaim at international festivals and concert halls throughout
the United States, Europe and Asia. Highlights include appearances at Interharmony International
Music Festivals in Acqui-Terme and Arcidosso, Italy and Sulzbach-Rozenberg, Germany;
International Flute Festival of Lund, Sweden; Magic Flute Festival in Stockholm; White Mountain
Bach Festival; Portland Bach Experience; Acadia Festival of Traditional Music and Arts; Festival
Interceltique du LOrient in France; Hebridean Festival in Scotland; International World of Music
and Dance Festival in the UK; chamber music performances in Kalimpong, India, and Portland
Chamber Music Festival. She has been featured on National Public Radio, BBC Glasgow and French
national television.

Mrs. Rabata has performed and presented lectures by invitation at the National Flute Conventions in
San Diego, New York City and Phoenix, where she was honored to perform at the closing gala
concert in 2023. She performs with Portland Ballet, Maine State Ballet, Bangor Symphony
Orchestra, Opera Maine, Hogfish Opera Company, Medomak Conductors Retreat orchestra, Mozart
Mentors Orchestra and Maine Chamber Ensemble.

Having a particular interest in early music, Mrs. Rabata performs on a Wenner Baroque flute after
Palanca. As a Baroque flautist, she performs regularly with North Star Baroque and St. Mary’s
Schola.

Mrs. Rabata is a passionate educator. She has built an active flute studio at Colby College where she
has served on the faculty for almost two decades. She has also served on the faculties at Bowdoin
College and University of Maine Augusta. She has been a coach and adjudicator at Bay Chamber
Concerts’ Next Generation Program, and also twice served as chamber music coach at Ghandi
Ashram School in Northeast Bengal, India for the Colby College JanPlan abroad program. She is
currently on the faculty of the Acadia Festival of Traditional Music and Arts in Bar Harbor, Maine.
Mrs. Rabata holds a Masters Degree and International Artist’s Diploma in Performance from Royal
Northern College of Music in Manchester, England.
